Mukalla Iron and Steel Company Ltd. has resumed restarting the factory with a production capacity of 10,000 tons as a first stage, and production will be raised in the future to 25,000 tons per month.
The factory was forced to stop in 2012, due to the lack of raw materials and foreign experts, as well as the instability of oil derivatives prices.
The capital of the project is 160 million dollars, and local and foreign investors contribute to it, with a government contribution represented by the General Authority for Insurance and Pensions, and the sources of raw materials are local at 80%.
The factory will produce a range of products, including rebar, starting from 8 mm to 32 mm, rolled iron, iron angles, and other iron products.
