Turkey’s steel billet exports fell to a critical minimum in November 2023 as Turkey exported only 6,063 tonnes, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK).
The volume of exports decreased significantly on an annual basis and on a monthly basis, as pellet exports reached 47,297 tonnes in November 2021 and 46,944 tonnes in October 2022.
The data showed that the total exports of billet during the period from January to November 2023 amounted to 696,433 tonnes, a decline of 22.3% compared to the same period in 2021.
It affected African countries 62% with a volume of 426,948 tonnes, the two Americas (26%) and Europe (13%).
Morocco topped the countries importing billet from Turkey with a volume of 359,356 tonnes, which represents more than 50% of the volume of exports, with an increase of 17.7% compared to the period January – November 2021.
