In March this year, iron and steel products exports reached 3 million tonnes in Japan, up 14.1% compared to February and down 4.7% compared to March 2022, according to customs statistics from the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF).
From January to March this year, Japan’s iron and steel product exports amounted to 8.09 million tonnes, a decrease of 0.2% over the same period of the previous year.
In terms of Japan’s leading iron and steel product export markets, in the first three months of this year, exports to South Korea totalled 1.59 million tonnes, up by 12.2%, while exports to China decreased by 41.1% to reach 669,958 tonnes, and exports volume to Taiwan was 400,377 tonnes, down 9.8%. Total exports to Thailand reached 1.25 million tonnes, up by 4%, and total exports to the United States reached 312,720 tonnes, up 8.7% compared to last year.
