According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, monthly steel exports in March 2023 increased by 12.7% compared to February, reaching 804,182 tonnes, an increase of 5.1% compared to March 2022.
In terms of value, US steel exports totalled $1.42 billion in March, compared to $1.25 billion in February and $1.43 million in March 2022.
Steel exports to Canada increased in March by 10.9% to reach 389,501 tonnes, an increase of 2.6% compared to March 2022.
Exports to Mexico increased by 14.2% compared to February, reaching 362,714 tonnes, an increase of 7.4% compared to last year.
Other primary destinations for US steel exports include India at 4,729 tonnes, China at 3,409 tonnes, the Dominican Republic at 2,655 tonnes, the United Kingdom at 2,437 tonnes and Brazil at 2,353 tonnes.
