Egypt’s exports of iron and steel products rose in the first five months of this year by 179% to record $584 million, compared to $209 million in the same period last year.
The monthly report issued by the Export Council for Building Materials indicated that exports were made to 70 countries during that period, including 15 countries that were not exported during the first 5 months of 2020, namely (Benin, Pakistan, Djibouti, Ireland, Belize, Trinidad and Tobago, Peru, the Federation of Nigeria, Guyana, New Zealand, Guinea, Burundi, Ecuador, Russian Federation).
Five countries “Spain, Italy, Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Portugal” accounted for 74.5% of the total iron and steel exports during the first 5 months of this year, at a value of $434.9 million.
Spain controlled 25.8% of the total iron exports to rank first in the list of the largest importers, with a value of $150,885 million , compared to $19.932 million, a growth of 657%.
Italy ranked second in the list of the top 10 iron and steel importers from Egypt, with a value of $145.887 million, compared to $17,558 , a growth of 731%, accounting for 25% of the total exports.
