Oman to extend evening lockdown, no major impact on steel industry
Despite the unprecedented measures to curb the pandemic spreading, Oman remains deeply concerned about the matter. The authorities were forced to make a tough decision and implement additional restrictions during religious holidays.
The Supreme Committee decided to introduce total lockdown in the Sultanate during the Eid Al Adha holidays. Oman banned travel movement and shut down public places and shops from 5:00 p.m. until 4:00 a.m., according to the official statement. The restrictions will be effective from July 16 until July 31.
Despite the possible negative effect of these restrictions on the trading and supply processes in Oman, the local business community and representatives of the industries are calm. “We all geared up. Production will continue as usual. Sales also will not get affected. Industries can work, the only thing that has to be rearranged is shift timing,” an Omani steel producer explained to Metal Expert. “Cargo movement won’t be affected,” he added.
