World crude steel output rose 5.8% in October

 

World crude steel production for the 64 countries reporting to the World Steel Association (wsa) was 156.6 million tonnes (Mt) in October 2018, a 5.8% increase compared to October 2017.

 

World crude steel production was 1,502 Mt in Jan. Oct.  2018, up by 4.7% compared to the same period in 2017. Asia produced 1057.6   Mt of crude steel, an increase of 5.7% compared to the same period in 2017. The EU produced 140.6  Mt of crude steel down -0.4% compared to the same period in 2017. North America’s crude steel production  was 100.2  Mt, and C.I.S. produced 84.7  Mt.

 

China’s crude steel production for October 2018 was 82.6 Mt, an increase of 9.1% compared to October 2017. India produced 8.8 Mt, an increase of 0.4% on October 2017. Japan produced 8.6 Mt of crude steel in October 2018, a decrease of 4.5% compared to October 2017. South Korea’s produced 6.2 Mt of crudes steel, up 3.5% on October 2017.

 

Egypt leads the Arab countries by producing 727,000 tons

 

Egypt’s crude steel production for September 727,000 tons, an increase of 23.4% compared to October  2017.  Saudi Arabia  produced 485,000 tons of crude steel in October 2018, an increase 22.4% compared to October  2017. UAE  produced 299,000 tons of crude steel up  5.2% compared to October 2017. Qatar  produced 205,000 tons of crude steel down -14.2% compared to October 2017. Libya  produced 15,000 tons of crude steel, increase -59.9%
