During the first quarter of this year, Algerian Qatari Steel exported 320,000 tonnes of its products (building steel, wire coils and slabs), at nearly $200 million, to various international markets.
The Algerian-Qatari steel company’s export activities have developed significantly during the current year, which enabled it to win the bet that its products would reach four continents despite the short period.
In 2022, AQS exported 240,000 tonnes, equivalent to about $160 million.
Thanks to these achieved numbers, the Algerian Qatari Steel Company now occupies a salient position in the map of the Algerian steel industry, which is part of the state’s strategy and aims to reduce imports, raise the value of exports and diversify sources of income outside the hydrocarbon sector. Thus, Algerian Qatari Steel confirms its quest to be a regional and international player in the iron and steel industry field.
On the other hand, on the sidelines of the visit of the Minister of Vocational Training and Education, Mr Yacine Merabi, to the Algerian-Qatari Steel Company complex in Bellara on Tuesday, a framework agreement was signed between the Algerian Qatari Steel and the Directorate of Vocational Training and Education of the province of Jijel. This aims to prepare a training map in line with local and national development programs and to meet economic institutions’ requests for qualified labour.
