Steel prices in the third week of June 2026

Global steel and raw material markets recorded mixed movements in the week ending June 20, 2026, as scrap and iron ore prices continued their downward trend, while billet prices showed limited fluctuations in some markets, amid ongoing caution across global markets and close monitoring of demand developments. These movements reflect a continuation of market trends observed in recent weeks, according to market data obtained by Arab Iron and Steel Union.

Prices of heavy scrap (HMS 1&2 80:20) exported from the United States to Turkey stood at $388 per tonne CFR, marking a weekly decline of $14 per tonne, highlighting the continued weakness in raw material demand.

Meanwhile, prices of Australian iron ore (62% Fe) dropped to $99 per tonne CFR, down by $2 per tonne compared to the previous week.

In the billet market, Russian billet prices declined to $480–485 per tonne FOB, down by $3, while Chinese billet prices increased to $473 per tonne FOB, up by $3. In Turkey, imported billet prices from the CIS countries fell to $500–505 per tonne CFR, down by $5.

As for finished products, Turkish rebar prices declined to $585–600 per tonne FOB, down by $3, while CIS rebar prices remained stable at $545–550 per tonne FOB.

In the flat and long products segment, Turkish wire rod prices recorded a notable decline to $590–600 per tonne FOB, down by $10, while Russian hot rolled coil (HRC) prices remained stable at $535–545 per tonne FOB, as did Chinese cold rolled coil (CRC) 1mm prices at $560–569 per tonne FOB.

The performance of global markets reflects a continued cautious balance between supply and demand, with evident pressure on raw material prices, as producers and consumers await clearer signals regarding demand recovery in the second half of the year.
