The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has maintained anti-dumping duties on rebar imports from 9 countries, including Egypt, after a review of the duties concluded that the termination of the measures could lead to the continuation of dumping of these products in the Canadian market.

The current duties are 20.3% on rebar imports from Algeria, 23.1% on imports from Egypt, Italy, Malaysia, Singapore, and Vietnam, 21.8% on Indonesia, 8% on Oman, and 45% on Russia.

The case has now been referred to the Canadian International Trade Tribunal, which will conduct an investigation to determine whether the expiry of the duties would cause harm to the Canadian steel industry. The Tribunal announced that it will issue its decision no later than February 24, 2027.

The review covers rebar imports classified under several headings of the Canadian Customs Tariff.
