The Indonesian Anti-Dumping Committee has launched an investigation into galvanized steel imports from China, following a request from two companies, PT Tata Metal Lestari and PT ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel Indonesia. This comes amid initial indications that increased Chinese imports have harmed local producers.
The committee announced the commencement of the investigation on September 15, 2026, stating that imports of the products under investigation from all countries reached 2.56 million tons during the period from 2023 to 2025. China accounted for 81% of this, amounting to 2.08 million tons.
The investigation is scheduled to last up to 12 months, with a possible extension to 18 months. Concerned producing, exporting, and importing companies, as well as relevant government agencies, have been notified of the proceedings.
