The National Metal Packaging Company (EPE EMB SPA) is one of Algeria’s oldest and most prestigious industrial enterprises. Its origins date back to the 1950s, when it operated under the name S-S CARNAUD et BASSE INDRE. The company was established in its current form as a joint-stock company in 1968 and was wholly owned by SNS Holding Group. Today, it stands as Algeria’s historical and industrial benchmark in the metal packaging sector.
As a pioneer in this industry, the company is engaged in the design, manufacture, and marketing of metal packaging for canned food products and various industrial applications. Its core business focuses on transforming tinplate steel (fer blanc) into reliable, safe, and sustainable packaging solutions that meet the needs of the domestic market and the industrial sector.
The company has a total annual production capacity of 193 million cans, distributed across three production facilities located in Algiers, Azzaba, and Skikda, in addition to a storage warehouse in Oran. The Algiers plant serves as the company’s main industrial hub, with an annual production capacity of 105 million cans, representing approximately 54% of the company’s total production capacity.
