World crude steel production for the 64 countries reporting to the World Steel Association (worldsteel) was 162.9 million tonnes (Mt) in January 2021, a 4.8% increase compared to January 2020.
In Asia, China produced 90.2 Mt of crude steel in January 2021, an increase of 6.8% compared to January 2020. India produced 10.0 Mt of crude steel in January 2021, up 7.6% on January 2020. Japan produced 7.9 Mt of crude steel in January 2021, down -3.9% on January 2020.
