Data showed that DRI output in 12 countries — representing about 85% of total global production in 2024 — reached 11.05 million mt in September 2025, marking an increase of 2.8% month-on-month and 4.9% year-on-year, according to the World Steel Association (WorldSteel).
During the period from January to September 2025, global DRI production totaled 95.37 million mt, up 5.1% compared with the same period in 2024.
The report also indicated that India ranked as the largest producer in September, with 4.71 million mt, followed by Iran with 3.73 million mt, Russia with 650,000 mt, and Saudi Arabia with 580,000 mt.
