According to preliminary data from the US Census Bureau under the Department of Commerce, US rebar imports totaled 36,016 mt in August this year, down 40.8% month on month and 43.1% year on year.
In value terms, rebar imports amounted to $19.7 million in August, compared with $33.0 million in July and $41.4 million in August last year.
Bulgaria was the largest supplier of rebar to the US in August, with imports totaling 13,481 mt, compared with 15,544 mt in August last year.
Other major sources of rebar imports in August included South Korea with 8,136 mt, Vietnam with 7,736 mt, and Egypt with 4,107 mt.
