According to the latest figures from the US International Trade Commission, US iron scrap exports totalled 1,272,800 tonnes in January 2023, down by 15.4 per cent month-on-month and down 0.2 per cent year-on-year.
Mexico was the largest importer of US iron scrap exports in January, with a volume of 320,960 tonnes, down by 3.2% month-on-month and up 5.1% year-on-year.
Other destinations include Turkey, with a volume of 247,043 tonnes, and India, with a volume of 140,315 tonnes. Taiwan, with a volume of 106,331 tonnes and Vietnam, with a volume of 83,678 tonnes.
In terms of value, US iron scrap exports totalled $495.7 million in January 2023, compared to $589.7 million in December and $597.1 million in January 2022.
