Saudi Arabia :  Steel, the highest rise in construction materials prices in H1 2020

The average prices of construction materials in Saudi Arabia recorded varying heights in the first half of 2020, as the rise rates ranged between 0.2% to 4.2%.

According to the monitoring unit of the reports in the “Al-Iqtisadiya” newspaper, which was based on official data, “Steel” came the most expensive construction commodity, as its average price from the beginning of 2020 to the end of June 2020 increased by 4.2%, equivalent to 104.8 riyals.

The average price of steel in June 2020 was 2574.4 riyals, compared to its average price in December of 2469.6 riyals.

In terms of monthly performance, the average price of iron fell 3.4%, equivalent to 89.7 riyals, as its average price in June 2020 was about 2664.1 riyals.

Second, “Ready Mix” came with an increase in the average price of a cubic meter by 2.9%, equivalent to 5.2 riyals, from 177.4 riyals per ton on average last December to 182.6 riyals on average in June 2020.

 Thirdly, “timber”, of which the price per cubic meter increased by 1.9%, equivalent to 51.3 riyals per cubic meter, as the average price for December 2019 was about 2642.3 riyals, and rose to 2693.6 riyals in June 2020.

And the fourth construction material whose average price “cement” has increased, as the average price of the bag “50 km” increased by 1.2%, equivalent to 0.2 riyals “20 halalas”, as the average price of the bag reached about 13.27 riyals in December, and rose to 13.43 riyals in June.

As for the fifth construction material, the last of which is “cable”, its average price rose 0.2%, or 0.1 riyals, from 31.48 riyals in December 2019 to about 31.54 riyals in June 2020.
