Danieli announced that ArcelorMittal (AM/NS) has selected advanced processing technologies from Danieli Automation to upgrade three slab-making machines at its n° 1 steelmaking plant in Hazira, India.
The supply scope includes tier 2 systems consisting of process control models and production tracking capabilities. The bespoke models will manage the cast slab cooling process and quality assessment with selected cutting optimization units. Commissioning work for the first machine is scheduled to commence in July 2024.
The upgrade will allow ArcelorMittal (AM/NS) to control the process of its existing three-spoke wheels with the two new double-spoke wheels, which are expected to start production by early 2025.
The upgrade will allow ArcelorMittal AM/NS to align the process control of its three existing slab machines with the two new machines recently ordered from Danieli, which are expected to start production by early 2025 and will enable ArcelorMittal to produce an additional 6 million tonnes of high-quality slabs annually.
