According to the provisional foreign trade statistics compiled by the Turkish Statistical Institute, in March this year, the value of Türkiye iron and steel imports increased by 1.1% yearly, reaching $2.61 billion.
In the given month, iron and steel ranked as the third most valuable product imported from the country.
From January to March this year, Türkiye iron and steel imports value amounted to $5.97 billion, down by 24.8% compared to the same period of the previous year.
Arab Iron and Steel Union was established in Algeria in 1972 as the first Arab Union of the Arab countries to be founded under the Council of Economic Unity umbrella in the League of Arab States.
It is the first Arab organization to specialize in the iron and steel field, and its tasks fall within making plans aimed mainly at developing and growing the iron and steel industry in the Arab world.
