ArcelorMittal Steel production, one of the largest steel producers in the world, increased by 9.8% in the first quarter of 2023 compared to the fourth quarter of 2022, reaching 14.5 million tonnes, while it declined by 11% compared to the same period last year, according to the published quarterly report on the Company’s website.
Steel sales increased by 15.1% for January-March 2023 compared to the previous quarter and decreased by 5.2% year-on-year to reach 14.5 million tonnes.
During this period, iron ore production increased by 1% quarterly and decreased by 10% yearly to reach 10.8 million tonnes.
Iron ore sales (AMMC and Liberia) reached 7.4 million tonnes, an increase of 7.2% compared to the previous quarter and a growth of 10.4% year-on-year.
ArcelorMittal 2022 steel production declined by 14.6% compared to 2021 to reach 59 million tonnes, and 2022 steel sales decreased by 11.1% year-on-year to reach 55.9 million tonnes.
Iron ore production increased by 9.2% compared to 2021, reaching 28 million tonnes, and iron ore sales reached 28 million tonnes, an increase of 7.7% year-on-year.
