According to data provided by the Turkish Steel Producers Association (TCUD), the surge in scrap imports from Turkey continued in October. The import volume for the month of October alone amounted to 1.927 million tonnes, up about 12% per month, thanks to Turkey’s Finished steel sales in the Far Eastern markets and from Latin America. Scrap imports are Expected to maintain their strength until March next year, with order books for Turkish factories mostly full so far.
During the January-October period of this year, Turkey’s import volume of steel scrap increased by 19.1% year-on-year to reach 18.095 million tonnes. The value of these imports exceeded $ 4.942 million, down 0.1% year on year.
During the first ten months of the year, the EU maintained its position as Turkey’s leading supplier of scrap imports, with a 61.6% share of the total, followed by the United States with 20.7%.
