Abdulrahman Ali Al-Abdulla is the new Managing Director and CEO of Qatar Steel

Mr. Abdulrahman Ali Al-Abdulla is appointed in October 2020, by HE Minister of State for Energy Affairs, Chairman, and Managing Director of Industries Qatar (IQ) as the new Managing Director & CEO of Qatar Steel starting from Jan 1, 2021.

Mr. Al-Abdulla holds a Bachelor degree in Science and Business Administration (major in Marketing) from the University of Denver Colorado, the USA in 1992.

He brings a wealth of experience, cumulated over twenty-eight (28) years of services in Qatar Petroleum (QP) and QP affiliates.

With his huge expertise in local and international marketing, selling, and distribution of Chemical, Petrochemical and Steel products, he was appointed in multiple capacities by HE Minister of State for Energy Affairs and Chairman and MD of Industries Qatar (IQ).

Before assuming his new role in Qatar Steel, he was appointed by HE Minister of Energy and Industry as Project Director to establish Qatar Chemical and Petrochemical Marketing and Distribution Company Q.J.S.C. (Muntajat) in 2012, which included coordinating on all commercial and legal matters (Qatar and international) and then as Chief Executive Officer and member of the Board of Director of Muntajat in 2012.

In Nov 2020, he was appointed as the Chairman of Muntajat .

Mr. Al-Abdulla has exerted major roles and involvement in commercial, marketing and strategy for the production of QAPCO (LDPE), Qatofin (LLDPE), QVC (EDC, VCM and caustic soda), QChem polymer and Qatar Steel production; Organic and progressive growth in revenues and quantities to $ 8 billion and 16MT (2019) as a result of leading multiple strategies.

His career started with Qatar Petroleum in the year 1992 until 1999. Then he devoted a short span of time in QAFAC as Commercial and Shipping Manager, where the Commercial and Shipping Department was established and managed; its strategy was set for the company’s 1.6MT per annum from MTBE and Methanol production.

Later, he became QAPCO Chief Executive Officer, Global Marketing Network in 2000 and then Group Manager for Commercial and Marketing in 2005, where Marketing Department was established and furnished with global marketing network and logistic services (warehouses) to serve over 3000 customers in over 130 countries.

Mr. Al-Abdulla multiple roles in various organizations at varying levels have given him an invaluable direction to spearhead business. Consistent with his commitment to contribute to the community and the business sector in Qatar, he is serving as Board member of Qatar Academy (Al-Wakra) as a social responsibility and an active member of the Gulf Petrochemical and Chemical Association (GPCA) on various committees.
