Egypt’s exports of iron and steel rose in the first four months of 2021 to record $460 million , compared to $183 million in the same period in 2020, an increase of 152%, to record steel exports a big boom in that period.
A recent report by the Building Materials Council revealed that Italy is the largest importer of iron and steel, recording $172.4 million in January-April of 2021, compared to only $17.4 million in the same period in 2020, an increase of 632%, and exports to Spain rose to $92.4 million , compared to $19.7 million, an increase 368%, and exports to Brazil recorded $39.9 million, compared to only $528 thousand in the same period last year.
The value of exports to Portugal amounted to $24.5 million against $101 thousand , while the value of exports to Turkey amounted to $10.8 million against $1.13 million , and Romania $9.5 million against $277,000 .
The value of exports to Kenya reached $8.8 million against $11.4 million , Saudi Arabia $54.2 million against $59.3 million , and Sudan $6.6 million against $10.7 million .
