Turkey’s wire rod exports down 43.8 percent in January-May
According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in May this year Turkey’s wire rod exports decreased by 54.4 percent year on year to 104,439 metric tons, up 84.9 percent compared to the previous month. The revenue from these exports amounted to $45.52 million, up 80 percent month on month and decreasing by 61.6 percent compared to the same month of 2019.
Meanwhile, in the January-May period of this year, Turkey’s wire rod exports amounted to 485,078 metric tons, down 43.8 percent year on year, while the revenue generated by these exports totaled $104.44 million, decreasing by 49.8 percent compared to the same period of 2019.
From January to May, Turkey’s wire rod exports destination was to some Arab countries, such as Egypt 31,405 tonnes, up by 147.23% compared to the same period last year. As to Morocco, the export reached 28,209 tonnes, up by 5.10%, and 13,151 tonnes, up by 189.03% to Libya, compared to the same period last year.
