The Algerian Qatari Steel Company (AQS), one of the largest steel producers in Algeria, continues to invest in improving its operations and business activities besides doubling its overall capacity in the long term. The Algerian Qatari Steel Company proceeds with investments to increase business efficiency in the medium term, especially given the company’s extensive exports recently.
In particular, the Algerian-Qatari Steel Company has awarded Danieli the project to modernize Rolling Mill No. 1 for rebar production with a diameter of 12 mm, 14 mm and 16 mm in 2 strands in addition to the existing capacity for rolling from 16 to 40 mm.
In addition, the five-thread steel billet-casting wheel was initially designed for 150mm x 150mm production and would be updated for 130mm billet casting.
According to the company’s source, the investment is expected to be realized in mid-2023; the expanded product volume portfolio of the Algerian-Qatari steel company will help increase the efficiency of its business operations.
The Algerian Qatari Steel Company has a production capacity of 2.5 million tons of DRI, 2.2 million tons of billets, 1.5 million tons of reinforcing steel and 500,000 tons of wire coils annually.
