Emirates Steel announces that its products comply with the criteria for evaluating green buildings

Emirates Steel announced that its products meet all requirements of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) system, in addition to the requirements of the “Estidama” program and the pearl rating system of the Abu Dhabi government, as part of the company’s efforts to support the sustainable building development system. And to enhance environmental, economic and social sustainability locally and globally.

This came after Emirates Steel obtained the Product Recycling Certificate / RCC / and the Health Product Declaration / HPD / from SCS Global Services, the leading American company in the field of auditing and certification of conformity, in addition to the approval of the Environmental Product Declaration / EPD / that is distinguished by it. The company’s products, becoming the first industrial company and iron and steel plant in the Middle East to meet the requirements and standards of the LEED system and be certified by the Green Business Accreditation Foundation.

This achievement comes as a culmination of Emirates Steel’s commitment to support sustainable development, as the company seeks to increase its market share and enhance its participation in the implementation of green building projects, which will constitute another competitive advantage for the company and add quality to its products and its customer base.

Engineer Saeed Ghamran Al Rumaithi, CEO of Emirates Steel, said: “We are proud of our commitment to integrate sustainability and innovation into the core of our technical and operational activities. We are committed to providing our customers with pioneering, sustainable and value-added products in accordance with the highest standards of safety and quality.

He added, “This achievement will allow our customers and developers to meet the local green building requirements of the” Estidama “program as well as international standards for the LEED system through the optimal use of our products.” He pointed out that Emirates Steel constantly cooperates with prestigious international organizations and participates in many initiatives that focus on sustainability to ensure that its factories operate with high environmental efficiency, stressing that these international recognition and the company’s efforts in the field of sustainability and green buildings contribute to supporting the UAE’s commitments towards environmental sustainability, and the vision Government to diversify the structure of the national sustainable economy.

A health product declaration certificate provides a framework for reporting product contents and associated health impacts, while an environmental product declaration helps define environmental information about the product’s life cycle and guides consumers to the need to consider environmental standards when selecting goods or services.

As for the product recycling certificate, it enables companies to meet the standards for recycled content in construction and building products according to the LEED system and environmentally preferable purchase programs. This certificate is a sign of confidence that enables manufacturers to strengthen their leadership in global markets.
