Abu Dhabi Ports Group has signed a preliminary agreement with Tosyali, one of the largest private sector steel producers in Turkey, which has extensive operations on three continents.
The agreement stipulates setting a framework for the group’s cooperation with Tosyali in a wide range of services that include shipping, logistics, ports and freight forwarder services, in addition to the possibility for the two sides to invest in new port facilities to support Tosyali’s export operations.
Tosyali, through its 30 production plants, partnerships and joint ventures in Turkey, Algeria and Angola, produces more than 10 million tons of steel annually, and large quantities of it are shipped to various markets worldwide. The company also operates an industrial facility in the Turkish port of Iskenderun, which is involved in Arzen’s new port work development.
Abu Dhabi Ports Group expanded its freight fleet and logistics operations in 2022 through a series of acquisitions and joint ventures, making it an ideal partner for Tosyali, which is witnessing rapid growth in its operations.
Executive officials believe that cooperation will contribute to strengthening trade relations between the UAE and Turkey, as the volume of non-oil trade exchange between the two countries grew by 54% on an annual basis in 2021 to reach 50.4 billion dirhams.

Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamsi, the Managing Director and CEO of Abu Dhabi Ports Group, expressed his delight at the signing agreement with Tosyali, the leading steel producer in Turkey and the largest in Africa. “Our great capabilities allow us to provide an integrated range of shipping, logistics, port and support services with the latest advanced technologies to suppliers such as Tosyali. He added, “We are grateful for the continuous support and wise guidance of our wise leadership, which allows us to conclude global agreements of this level”.
Freight facilities network
For his part, Fuad Tosyali, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tosyali Holding, said, “Tosyali Holding aims to establish a network of shipping and logistics facilities that would allow our products to be delivered to the market more quickly and efficiently, and contribute to the development of our country exports.
